Derek Jeter out of lineup vs. Blue Jays

NEW YORK -- Slumping New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter was out of the lineup for Friday afternoon's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

"We're just giving him an off day," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "There's nothing physical."

Rookie Eduardo Nuñez started at shortstop against Toronto.

Jeter entered Friday's game hitting just .266, nearly 50 points below his career average.

He has just three hits in his past 34 at-bats.
