Source: Ricco won't replace Minaya

NEW YORK -- If Omar Minaya is reassigned after the season, deputy John Ricco will not succeed him as New York Mets general manager, a source with knowledge of owner Fred and Jeff Wilpon's plans told ESPNNewYork.com.

Ricco, who joined the organization from the commissioner's office in April 2004, likely will remain in his current role as assistant GM and learn from an established executive hired from outside the organization.
