Jonathan Albaladejo is Japan-bound

TOKYO -- Former New York Yankees right-hander Jonathan Albaladejo agreed to a one-year, $950,000 contract with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Central League.

Albaladejo, who was released by the Yankees a week ago, spent the past three seasons with New York and had a 3.97 ERA in 10 games and 11 1/3 innings this year.

Giants manager Tatsunori Hara said Albaladejo gives his team some options: "He has the ability to start or come on in relief," Hara said. "His role will depend on the situation ...
