PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Terry Collins' first spring training at the helm of a major league club since 1999 has no shortage of minefields.

Among his biggest chores, the New York Mets' first-year manager must attempt to shield his players from distractions such as shortstop Jose Reyes' contract status beyond the 2011 season and the $1 billion lawsuit against the team's owners.
