Rangers get Bryan McCabe

The New York Rangers made a substantial move Saturday, acquiring veteran defenseman Bryan McCabe from the Florida Panthers, the Rangers announced Saturday.

In return, the Panthers get Tim Kennedy and a third-round 2011 draft choice.

The 35-year-old McCabe is in the final season of a five-year, $28.75 million contract, earning $4.15 million this season, although his cap hit for the year is $5.75 million. He'll be an unrestricted free agent July 1.
