Kei Igawa given OK to leave camp

DUNEDIN, Fla. -- New York Yankees minor leaguer Kei Igawa has been given permission to leave spring camp to deal with the 8.9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami that have hit Japan.

As of Friday afternoon, Igawa had been unable to reach his family by phone.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said he has given Igawa permission to return home, but there is no telling how or if he will be able to return to Japan. Travel has been severely restricted after the disaster. ...
