Robinson Cano hopes to play Tuesday

DETROIT -- Robinson Cano was out of the New York Yankees lineup Monday against the Tigers with a bone bruise on the palm of his left hand still too sore to allow him to start.

"It's right where I grip the knob of the bat,'' Cano said before the Yankees beat the Tigers 5-3. "It's really painful. I hope I'll be able to play tomorrow.''
