Yanks call up Kevin Whelan

NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees have summoned right-hander Kevin Whelan from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, adding another fresh arm to their depleted bullpen.

In a corresponding roster move, outfielder Chris Dickerson has been sent down to Triple-A.

The 27-year-old Whelan, who was called up before Friday night's game against the Cleveland Indians at Yankee Stadium, was 1-1 with a 1.67 ERA and 18 saves for the Yankees' International League affiliate.
