All-Star selection special for Beltran

After overcoming knee surgery in 2010, the Mets outfielder is enjoying the opportunity

PHOENIX -- Carlos Beltran's first All-Star appearance came July 13, 2004, in Houston, representing the National League. It came all of 19 days after the Kansas City Royals traded him to the Astros.

Beltran now has made five All-Star appearances as a New York Met as well. Yet the current invite might be the most special.
