RUSHING OFFENSE
Well, they tried, probably too much. But the positive here was Shonn Greene, who ran for a season-high 83 yards. Lot of success with misdirection plays and he picked up tough yards, gaining a season-high 45 yards after contact, according to ESPN Stats and Information. The return of C Nick Mangold helped a lot.
PASSING OFFENSE
The good news: No turnovers. Mark Sanchez managed a 105.6 passer rating, but the numbers are deceiving. They couldn't convert on third down, the receivers couldn't gain enough separation and there were at least three drops. TE Dustin Keller was a non-factor.
RUN DEFENSE
They allowed a 100-yard rusher for the second time in three games, as BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran for 136 and two TDs. The defense wore down and couldn't get a stop in the fourth quarter, when the Patriots held the ball for 6:12 to kick the game-clinching FG.
PASS DEFENSE
The Jets held Tom Brady below his averages, so that should count for something. There was one major breakdown, confusion between Darrelle Revis and Eric Smith on Wes Welker's 73-yard reception. At times, they confused Brady with the blitz, but he was too smart and eventually found the weaknesses in the secondary.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Joe McKnight delivered for the second straight week, ripping off an 88-yard kickoff return to set up a touchdown. A mediocre punt by T.J. Conley and poor coverage gave the Patriots great field position early in the fourth quarter, leading to a field goal.
COACHING
They stayed too long with the run instead of challenging the Patriots' cornerbacks. Obviously, the coaches wanted to slow down the game, but they missed opportunities in the passing game. The defensive plan for Brady was good, but the Patriots showed patience and discipline and relied on the running game, for a change.
