Redskins place RB Portis on IR with broken hand
ASHBURN, Virginia - Coach Joe Gibbs has already benched his starting quarterback. Now he's going to have to go without his best running back for the rest of the season.
The Washington Redskins on Wednesday placed Clinton Portis on injured reserve.
The move comes two days after Portis underwent surgery for a broken right hand. He suffered the injury in the first quarter of last Sunday's 27-3 loss at Philadelphia after being tackled by safety Brian Dawkins.
