Dolphins release Beck

Once regarded as the team's quarterback of the future, John Beck was released on Monday evening by the Miami Dolphins.
The release of Beck, 27, came just two days after the Dolphins picked quarterback Pat White of West Virginia in the second round of the 2009 draft. White is expected to operate the "Wildcat" offense for the Dolphins, but also to challenge one-year veteran Chad Henne for the No. 2 job behind starter Chad Pennington.
