Agent: Da'Quan Bowers' knee is fine

Amid more negative reports about his health, the agent for Clemson defensive end Da'Quan Bowers is again defending his client's health leading into this month's draft.

It's the second time agent Joe Flanagan has sent an email to ESPN.com denying there is major damage to Bowers' knee. He had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in January.

Bowers has visited several teams this month following his April 1 pro day where his knee held up well, although he ran a slower 40-yard dash than he hoped. Bowers is currently in Cleveland visiting the Brows, Flanagan has said Bowers is visiting eight of the teams with a top-10 pick.

NFL.com reported Tuesday that Bowers' medical re-check in Indianapolis (which is part of the combine process) showed signs of potential long-term arthritis and some weakness in his surgically-repaired knee. Flanagan denied that there is any long-term worry in his email.

"As to his progress and the feedback from the medical recheck, every team we've spoken to, including multiple GMs, has said that, overall, Da'Quan's knee has shown good healing," Flangan's email said. "[The knee] has continued to get better since the Combine, and, perhaps most importantly, showed absolutely no acute or remote ill-effects as a result of his April 1 workout."

Flanagan also stated that Bowers' knee did not swell following the combine workout or after a series of flights -- which can also increase swelling.

"Bottom line: if it's holding up from a pounding in April, it should clearly hold up in August," the email read.

Bowers led the nation with 15.5 sacks in 2010. Prior to his injury, he was considered a potential No. 1 pick.
