Wakefield out 6-8 weeks with stress fracture
PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals, already hit hard by injuries in the preseason, got some more bad news Thursday when tests showed that defensive end Fred Wakefield has a stress fracture in his right foot.

Wakefield is expected to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks.
He's the fourth Cardinals player to suffer a long-term injury in training camp thus far -- joining running back Marcel Shipp, wide receiver Anquan Boldin, defensive tackle Kenny King and fullback James Hodgins.
Shipp is out for the season with a broken left leg and ankle while King likely is lost for the year with a broken right wrist.
Boldin is out until mid-October with a right knee injury and Hodgins is sidelined until mid-September with an injured shoulder.
Meanwhile, rookie wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald still is hobbled with a sprained left ankle suffered in the Aug. 14 preseason opener at Minnesota.
Receiver Bryant Johnson, who broke his right foot in workouts in July, has missed all of training camp so far.
Fitzgerald and Johnson likely will sit out Saturday night's home game against Oakland and the Sept. 2 preseason finale at Denver.
Cardinals coach Dennis Green said he's hoping that both players will be ready for the Sept. 12 season-opener at St. Louis.
