IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Brett Favre completed a 3-yard touchdown pass to Ahman Green in the third quarter. Ryan Longwell's extra point made it 24-7. Green. The Packers back ran for two touchdowns and 119 yards on 33 carries to go with his touchdown reception.

UP NEXT: Packers (1-0) vs. Bears (0-1) | Panthers (0-1) at Chiefs (0-1)

Broncos 34, Chiefs 24

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
The Chiefs failed to convert on fourth-and-15 with just 1:30 left in the game. The Broncos took over and ran out the clock. Quentin Griffin. Starting in place of the departed Clinton Portis, Griffin racked up 156 yards rushing and scored three TDs.

UP NEXT: Broncos (1-0) at Jaguars (1-0) | Chiefs (0-1) vs. Panthers (0-1)

Eagles 31, Giants 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
The Eagles made it 31-10 with just over five minutes left in the third quarter on a Terrell Owens touchdown reception. Donovan McNabb. Owens debut stole the spotlight, but it was McNabb who led the way on the field, completing 26 of 36 for 330 yards and four TDs.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: After seeing today's play from McNabb and Owens all I can say is wow! Every player on this offense has benefited from the acquisition of Owens including the other two receivers Freddie Mitchell and Todd Pinkston.

UP NEXT: Eagles (1-0) vs. Vikings (1-0) | Giants (0-1) vs. Redskins (1-0)

Vikings 35, Cowboys 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Daunte Culpepper and Kelly Campbell connected on a 44-yard touchdown pass with just under seven minutes left in the game to put the Vikings up 35-17. Culpepper. He made the most of his 17 completions, with five of them going for touchdowns.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The true test for Vinny Testaverde won't come in the first four or five games, it's going to come late in the season when he's been through hard fought games and taken some big hits. That's when we'll see if he's truly capable of holding on to his job.

UP NEXT: Vikings (1-0) at Eagles (1-0) | Cowboys (0-1) vs. Browns (1-0)

Falcons 21, 49ers 19

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
The 49ers' attempted on-side kick was recovered by the Falcons, who ran out the clock on three plays. Alge Crumpler. The tight end, who could quickly develop into Michael Vick's favorite target, caught six passes for 82 yards and a TD.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Today was a good day for Vick, but it's hard to tell how long its going to take for him to get comfortable in this offense because it differs so greatly from anything else he's done.

UP NEXT: Falcons (1-0) vs. Rams (1-0) | 49ers (0-1) at Saints (0-1)

Steelers 24, Raiders 21

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Jeff Reed's 42-yard field goal sailed through the uprights with seven seconds left. The game ended on the ensuing kickoff. Jerome Bettis. Talk about being efficient. The Bus carried the ball only five times for one yard, but he managed to find the end zone three times.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Raiders have a lot of options at running back and they will have to eventually evaluate what they want to do. Today though they faced a good defense and were stuffed and I'm not sure if they have anybody at running back who would've had a big day against them.

UP NEXT: Raiders (0-1) vs. Bills (0-1) | Steelers (1-0) at Ravens (0-1)

Seahawks 21, Saints 7

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Maurice Morris rushed for six yards on third-and-6 with just under two minutes left in the game. After converting the first down the Seahawks ran out the clock. Shaun Alexander. The fifth-year back was the offense for the Seahawks, rushing for 135 yards, catching two passes for 31 yards and scoring all three of Seattle's touchdowns.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Seahawks should be very encouraged by their ability to hold down Deuce McAllister for two reasons. One, they were able to accomplish the feat on the road. Secondly, they were able to stop McAllister in the first week of the season when he doesn't have any of the bumps, bruises and normal hurts that start to limit a RB later in the season.

UP NEXT: Seahawks (1-0) at Bucs (0-1) | Saints (0-1) vs. 49ers (0-1)

Chargers 27, Texans 20

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
LaDainian Tomlinson busted a six-yard run on third-and-4 with just under two minutes left in the game. The Chargers took a knee on the next two plays and ran out the clock. Tomlinson. Drew Brees was a big part of the win, but it's Tomlinson that makes San Diego's offense go. Tomlinson rushed for 121 yards on 26 carries and found the end zone once.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Without a doubt, Drew Brees is a young, good player on the verge of breaking out for the Chargers. Not many people picked the Chargers to pull off this mild upset including myself. They went out and ignored the talk about possibly being the worst team in the NFL and won a big game against a team that some people were talking up for a playoff spot.

UP NEXT: Chargers (1-0) vs. Jets (1-0) | Texans (0-1) at Lions (1-0)

Redskins 16, Bucs 10

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
John Hall kicked a 34-yard field with just 16 seconds left to give the Redskins a 16-10 lead. Tampa Bay got one play off after the kickoff and Brad Johnson was sacked to end the game. Clinton Portis. In his first game with the Redskins, Portis rushed for 148 yards on 29 carries, including a 64-yard touchdown run on his first carry as a Redskin.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Clinton Portis did a great job of announcing he can carry this team with his 64-yard TD on his first carry. He definitely has the ability to carry a team, but this team's success won't be all his doing.

UP NEXT: Redskins (1-0) at Giants (0-1) | Bucs (0-1) vs. Seahawks (1-0)

Jaguars 13, Bills 10

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
When the review of Ernest Wilford's game-winning TD catch came back in Jacksonville's favor. Wilford went up high to pull down the pass from Byron Leftwich and it was ruled that he was forced out of bounds. Leftwich. After struggling for much of the game Leftwich came up big at the end, leading the Jaguars on an 80-yard game-winning drive. Leftwich connected with Wilford for the winning TD with no time left on the clock.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: While this was a great win for the Jags and for Byron Leftwich, they are still a season or two away from playoff contention.

UP NEXT: Bills (0-1) at Raiders (0-1) | Jaguars (1-0) vs. Broncos (1-0)

Lions 20, Bears 16

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Bracy Walker picked off a Rex Grossman pass in the end zone with under 20 seconds to play in the game. Walker. The veteran safety had the two biggest plays of the game, sealing the win with the INT and scoring a TD on a 92-yard return of a blocked FG.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: I expect Joey Harrington to have a better season. He's had more snaps as a pro and has a better complement of receivers. He also looks like he'll have a better running game with rookie Kevin Jones running the ball.

UP NEXT: Bears (0-1) at Packers (1-0) | Lions (1-0) vs. Jaguars (1-0)

Rams 17, Cardinals 10

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Marc Bulger completed a five-yard pass to Shaun McDonald on third-and-2 for five yards with under three minutes left. The Rams were able to run the clock down to 16 seconds before punting the ball to the Cardinals. Marshall Faulk. Steven Jackson will get plenty of carries, but the No. 1 job is still Faulk's and he responded with 128 yards rushing on 22 carries.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Cardinals are going to be able to hang in games because of Dennis Green's mentality. He knew he was going to have to change the mentality of the organization when he took the job and he spent all summer doing that.

UP NEXT: Rams (1-0) at Falcons (1-0) | Cardinals (0-1) vs. Patriots (1-0)

Jets 31, Bengals 24

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Curtis Martin rushed for 13 yards on 2nd-and-4 with just over 1:30 left in the game. The Jets needed just two more snaps to run out the clock. Martin. There's still some life left in Martin's legs. After scoring just two TDs last season, Martin matched that total in Week 1 against the Bengals, scoring one rushing TD and one receiving TD. Martin rushed for 196 on 29 carries.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Personally I believe Curtis Martin has the ability to have a big season because he won't be the center of the defense's attention anymore.

UP NEXT: Jets (1-0) at Chargers (1-0) | Bengals (0-1) vs. Dolphins (0-1)

Browns 20, Ravens 3

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Jeff Garcia scored on a three-yard TD run with just over four minutes left to give the Browns a 20-3 lead. That was more than enough with the way Baltimore was playing on offense. Kenard Lang. Lang had three sacks, forced a fumble, and anchored a Cleveland defense that held Jamal Lewis to 57 yards after allowing him to rush for 500 yards in two games last season.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: To me the big story of the game was Cleveland's ability to handle Jamal Lewis -- who ran for 500 yards in two games against them last season -- with just a seven men in the box. After the game I spoke to a Browns' defender and he said they were able to do that with a good scheme and responsibility.

UP NEXT: Browns (1-0) at Cowboys (0-1) | Ravens (0-1) vs. Steelers (1-0)

Patriots 27, Colts 24

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Mike Vanderjagt's 48-yard field goal sailed wide right as time expired. The Colts were forced into the long field goal after Willie McGinest sacked Peyton Manning for a 13-yard loss on third down. Tom Brady. On a day when the Patriots defense struggled, the offense had to put points on the board and Brady led the way, hitting on 26 of 38 passes for 335 yards and three touchdowns.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: I don't know if I'd say the Patriots are in the Colts heads since New England has a physical and personnel edge. The Colts have been able to make the last couple games close, but that's mostly because the Pats haven't played at a top-notch level against them.

UP NEXT: Patriots (1-0) at Cardinals (0-1) | Colts (0-1) at Titans (1-0)

Titans 17, Dolphins 7

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Lamont Thompson returned an A.J. Feeley interceptions 37 yards for a touchdown with 2:40 left in the third quarter to give the Titans a 14-0 lead. Facing an anemic Miami offense that lead was more than enough. Chris Brown. Starting his first game in place of the departed Eddie George, Brown rushed for 100 yards on just 16 carries and did it all in the first half before leaving the game with an ankle injury.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Dolphins seem to be one of those teams that always has a problem at quarterback now that Marino is gone. Whether it's an injury or just poor play, they seem to get killed at that position.

UP NEXT: Dolphins (0-1) at Bengals (0-1) | Titans (1-0) vs. Colts (0-1)
