Eagles 27, Vikings 16

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Eagles kicker David Akers hit a 47-yard field goal with 1:11 to play. Donovan McNabb. The Philly quarterback avoided mistakes while throwing for two TDs and running for another.

UP NEXT: Eagles (2-0) at Lions (2-0) | Vikings (1-1) vs. Bears (1-1)

Colts 31, Titans 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Steve McNair's fumble on 4th-and-18 was recovered by the Colts. Indy took over with under 30 seconds left and ran out the clock. Peyton Manning. James had a big second half, but Manning gets the nod, tossing two TD passes and coming out on top in his battle with McNair.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: This was a big win for the Colts because they have a lot of expectations to deal with and keep pace with. After falling short last season in the AFC Championship game there are many people who expect them to make the leap to the Super Bowl.

UP NEXT: Colts (1-1) vs. Packers (1-1) | Titans (1-1) vs. Jaguars (2-0)

Panthers 28, Chiefs 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
The Panthers, who got the ball with just over 4 minutes left in the game, were able to convert a first down and take the clock all the way under 30 seconds. Playing in place of the injured Stephen Davis, DeShaun Foster came up big for the Panthers, rushing for 179 yards and scoring one TD.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: While the injuries to Steve Smith and Stephen Davis were devastating, this could be good for the team because DeShaun Foster has the ability to step up his play.

UP NEXT: Chiefs (0-2) vs. Texans (0-2) | Panthers (1-1) -- bye week

Saints 30, 49ers 27

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
When the refs decided to flag 49ers WR Brandon Lloyd for offensive pass interference negating a big pass play that would have given the 49ers the ball at the Saints 1-yard line with little time left. Instead it was a 10-yard penalty and Ken Dorsey was intercepted on the next play with just four seconds left. Aaron Brooks. It was a bit of an up-and-down day for Brooks, but it ended up. Brooks tossed three TDs, including the game-winner to Donte' Stallworth with just over one minute left.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: I was quite impressed with QB Aaron Brooks. He had a fabulous game and avoided a lot of mistakes. In the past he's been prone to make a mistake or two when the game came down to the wire, but today he did a fine job executing the offense on the game-winning drive.

UP NEXT: Saints (1-1) at Rams (1-1) | 49ers (0-2) at Seahawks (2-0)

Giants 20, Redskins 14

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Patrick Ramsey's pass on 4th-and-4 fell incomplete with under 1:30 left. The Redskins eventually got the ball back, but there was only 23 seconds left. Giants defense. The much-maligned unit forced seven turnovers, including one fumble that was returned by Barrett Green 16 yards for a TD.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Giants are a veteran team that's accustomed to a certain coaching style that's completely different than what Tom Coughlin has brought to the table. That's going to cause some hurt feelings as Coughlin and the players get to know each other. It's not that big of a deal, but because of where it's happening it's getting a lot more attention than it probably should.

UP NEXT: Redskins (1-1) vs. Cowboys (1-1) | Giants (1-1) vs. Browns (1-1)

Jaguars 7, Broncos 6

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Quentin Griffin fumbled at the Jaguars 23 with about one minute left and the Broncos in position for the winning field goal. Jaguars defense. For an NFL-best 17th straight game the Jaguars didn't allow a 100-yard game by an opposing back.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Right now, the Jaguars are the most surprising team in the NFL. They have a young quarterback in Byron Leftwich, an oft-injured running back in Fred Taylor and are still 2-0.

UP NEXT: Broncos (1-1) vs. Chargers (1-1) | Jaguars (2-0) at Titans (1-1)

Ravens 30, Steelers 13

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Chris McAlister returned a Ben Roethlisberger interception 51 yards for a TD to put the Ravens up 30-13 with just over four minutes left. Jamal Lewis. It certainly wasn't a great game for Lewis, but he did find the end zone twice, so he gets the nod.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Jamal Lewis finds himself the focal point of every defense after last season's amazing performance. Every team is going to want to avoid being this season's Cleveland Browns and will try to limit him as much as they can.

UP NEXT: Steelers (1-1) at Dolphins (0-2) | Ravens (1-1) at Bengals (1-1)

Falcons 34, Rams 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
When the Rams were forced to punt on 4th-and-22 with just over 3 minutes left and trailing 34-17. Michael Vick. The fleet-footed QB completed 14 of 19 passes for 179 yards and a TD and also rushed for 109 yards on 12 carries.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: It was obvious the Falcons wanted to shut down the run after talking to some of the players. That was their goal and they accomplished it by using a 3-4 defense and dropping a safety down early to stop the run.

UP NEXT: Rams (1-1) vs. Saints (1-1) | Falcons (2-0) vs. Cardinals (0-2)

Lions 28, Texans 16

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
David Carr came up one yard short on 4th-and-5 with just over 30 seconds left in the game. Joey Harrington. In a matchup with the QB who went two picks before him in the 2002 draft, Harrington came out on top with three TD passes.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Lions defense is opportunistic and isn't allowing big plays, while the special teams units are making big plays.

UP NEXT: Lions (2-0) vs. Eagles (2-0) | Texans (0-2) at Chiefs (0-2)

Bears 21, Packers 10

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Bobby Gray intercepted a Brett Favre pass with just under 3:50 left in the game. Trailing by 10 the Packers needed to score to have a legitimate shot. Thomas Jones. The offseason free-agent signing was huge against the Packers, rushing for 152 yards and one TDs.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Bears did what teams are going to have to do to beat the Packers this season: Take Ahman Green out of the equation by jumping out to a nice lead.

UP NEXT: Packers (1-1) at Colts (1-1) | Bears (1-1) at Vikings (1-1)

Seahawks 10, Bucs 6

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Michael Boulware intercepted a Chris Simms pass with just over one minute left after the Bucs had driven the ball to Seattle's 26-yard line. The Seahawks took over and ran out the clock. Seahawks defense. With Shaun Alexander hobbled, the defense stepped up. Seattle's only TD of the game was set up by a 41-yard INT return by Marcus Trufant.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: While Brad Johnson is a capable quarterback he's not Gruden's first choice. Coach Jon Gruden is going to try and get the future started as quickly as possible and I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Simms did end up starting the rest of the season for that very reason

UP NEXT: Seahawks (2-0) vs. 49ers (1-1) | Bucs (0-2) at Raiders (1-1)

Cowboys 19, Browns 12

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Luke McCown's desperation heave was batted down by Cowboys WR Keyshawn Johnson (in the game as a DB) as time expired. Cowboys defense. We hate giving so many game balls to the defenses, but nobody on the Cowboys offense deserves it. The D intercepted Jeff Garcia three times and helped the Cowboys overcome four turnovers.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Vinny Testaverde is a very good passer and he's proving it the first two weeks of the season. Before the season a lot of people wrote him off due to his age and poor play last season, but he can still make the throws and lead an offense.

UP NEXT: Cowboys (1-1) at Redskins (1-1) | Browns (1-1) vs. Giants (1-1)

Raiders 13, Bills 10

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Jerry Porter recovered an onside kick by the Bills with a little over one minute left. The Raiders ran out the clock. Jerry Rice. He didn't catch a pass, but his amazing streak of 274 straight games with a catch is just amazing.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: It's easy to say that Drew Bledsoe needs to make his reads quickly and get rid of the ball, but it's harder to do when you have a ton of guys in your face trying to knock your block off.

UP NEXT: Bills (0-2) -- bye week | Raiders (1-1) vs. Bucs (0-2)

Patriots 23, Cardinals 12

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Josh McCown's pass was incomplete on 4th-and-10 from the Cardinals' own 22 with just over 2:30 left. The Patriots took over and were able to run out the clock. Corey Dillon. Dillon was the workhorse the Pats envisioned, rushing for 158 yards on 32 carries.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Patriots have a chance to get those two wins (and get to 19 straight) because of the coaching staff. Often teams will experience a hangover of sorts after winning the Super Bowl. That won't happen to the Patriots because the coaching staff won't allow it.

UP NEXT: Patriots (2-0) -- bye week | Cardinals (0-2) at Falcons (2-0)

Jets 34, Chargers 28

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Chad Pennington connected with Chris Baker on a two-yard TD pass with just under four minutes left to put the Jets up 34-21. Curtis Martin. For the second straight week Martin had a big game running (119 yards) and found the end zone twice. Martin also passed Freeman McNeil as the Jets all-time leading rusher.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Against the Jets it was the same old Drew Brees. He made incorrect reads, showed happy feet and generally reverted back to the Brees that led the Chargers to go looking for a new quarterback.

UP NEXT: Chargers (1-1) at Broncos (1-1) | Jets (2-0) -- bye week

Bengals 16, Dolphins 13

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Shayne Graham's 39-yard field goal sailed through the uprights with just two seconds left on the clock. Carson Palmer. He actually didn't have a great game, but when it mattered, he drove the Bengals 60 yards for the game-winning field goal with just four seconds left.
UP NEXT: Dolphins (0-2) vs. Steelers (1-1) | Bengals (1-1) vs. Ravens (1-1)
