Steelers 28, Bengals 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Troy Polamalu returned a Carson Palmer INT 26 yards for a TD to make the score 28-17 with just over two minutes left. Ben Roethlisberger. In just his second start (both wins), Roethlisberger completed 17 of 25 passes for 174 yards and one TD.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Ben Roethlisberger looked solid in his debut last week even though he played in terrible conditions. This week he looked very good in leading his team to win. The Steelers are doing a good job putting him in position to win.

UP NEXT: Steelers (3-1) vs. Browns (2-2) | Bengals (1-3) -- bye week

Colts 24, Jaguars 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
The Colts stuffed Fred Taylor on 4th-and-1 with just under two minutes left in the game. The Colts got the ball back, got a first down and ran out the clock. Peyton Manning. He wasn't spectacular, but Manning was good when he had to be, completing 13 of 13 passes for 162 yards on the Colts three TD drives. He finished 20 of 29 for 220 yards and two TDs.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Jaguars have to find another option at receiver. Right now Jimmy Smith is carrying the load and it's hurting the team. A young QB like Byron Leftwich needs more than one option to throw to... especially in the red zone.

UP NEXT: Colts (3-1) at Raiders (2-2) | Jaguars (3-1) at Chargers (2-2)

Texans 31, Raiders 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Kerry Collins was picked off by Dunta Robinson with under two minutes left in the game. The Texans took over and ran out the clock. Jonathan Wells. Playing in place of the injured Domanick Davis, Wells had a big day, rushing for 105 yards and one TD on 26 carries.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Kerry Collins has a history of not playing well when he has a comfort level. For some reason he's more prone to mistakes when his job isn't on the line.

UP NEXT: Raiders (2-2) vs. Colts (3-1) | Texans (2-2) vs. Vikings (2-1)

Patriots 31, Bills 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Richard Seymour grabbed a Drew Bledsoe fumble and returned it 68 yards for a TD to make it 31-17 with just under three minutes left. Tom Brady. The Pats were a little ragged on offense, but Brady made some big plays, completing 17 of 30 passes for 298 yards and two TDs.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Without question, the Patriots defensive personnel are the best-prepared defense in the NFL. The players are very disciplined and have no communication gaps with the coaching staff.

UP NEXT: Patriots (3-0) vs. Dolphins (0-4) | Bills (0-3) at Jets (3-0)

Eagles 19, Bears 9

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Thomas Jones was stuffed on an attempted two-point conversion with just under four minutes left, leaving the Bears 10 points behind the Eagles. Brian Westbrook. Rushed for 115 yards on 23 carries and caught nine passes for 63 yards.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Eagles offense played poorly because they played down to the Bears and I'm sure coach Andy Reid will make sure it's the last time they do it this season. As good as this team is they still can't allow teams to stay in games with them.

UP NEXT: Eagles (4-0) -- bye week | Bears (1-3) -- bye week

Browns 17, Redskins 13

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Laveranues Coles' fumble with just under two minutes left was recovered by Earl Little. The Browns took over and ran out the clock. Lee Suggs. After missing the first three games of the season with a neck injury, Suggs rushed for 82 yards on 22 carries and scored the game-winning TD.
UP NEXT: Redskins (1-3) vs. Ravens (2-1) | Browns (2-2) at Steelers (3-1)

Giants 14, Packers 7

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Third-string QB Craig Nall completed a 24-yard pass to Robert Ferguson at the Giants 32. But the Packers were unable to stop the clock and the game ended. Tiki Barber. Barber rushed for 182 yards and one TD on 23 carries. It's Barber's third 100-yard game of the season.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Packers don't seem to have a sense of urgency. I'm not saying the panic button needs to be pushed, but they need to realize that the season could start slipping away. They haven't tried to establish themselves as a dominant team since Week 1 and are now 1-3. This is a team that has the opportunity to put up big numbers every week, but just keeps finding ways to fail.

UP NEXT: Giants (3-1) at Cowboys (2-1) | Packers (1-3) vs. Titans (1-3)

Falcons 27, Panthers 10

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
T.J. duckett scored on a four-yard run with just over four minutes left to give the Falcons a 27-10 lead. Falcons defense. For the second straight week, Atlanta's defense gets the nod. Patrick Kerney had two sacks and Kevin Mathis made the play of the game, returning a Jake Delhomme INT 35 yards for a TD.

UP NEXT: Falcons (4-0) vs. Lions (2-1) | Panthers (1-2) at Broncos (3-1)

Cardinals 34, Saints 10

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Emmitt Smith scored on a 21-yard TD run with just over five minutes left, putting the Cardinals up 27-10. Smith. Smith rushed for 127 yards and one TD on 21 carries and also threw a 21-yard TD pass to Obafemi Ayanbadejo.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: I'm not sure what's going on with the Saints, but if baseball teams can have a curse why can't an NFL team. There seems to be no other reason why this franchise can't seem to escape the doldrums after 30-plus seasons in the NFL.

UP NEXT: Saints (2-2) vs. Bucs (0-4) | Cardinals (1-3) at 49ers (0-4)

Chargers 38, Titans 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Billy Volek's pass on 4th-and-6 fell incomplete with just over three minutes left and the Titans trailing 31-17. Drew Brees. Hanging on to his job by a thread, Brees responded by completing 16 of 20 passes for 206 yards and three TDs.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: I'm impressed by the Chargers win no matter who was quarterbacking the Titans. Every team that faces the Chargers knows they have to stop Tomlinson. But today QB Drew Brees also led the Chargers. He was great keeping the team focused and running the offense.

UP NEXT: Titans (1-3) at Packers (1-3) | Chargers (2-2) vs. Jaguars (3-1)

Jets 17, Dolphins 9

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Jay Fiedler's fumble at the Dolphins' own 21-yard line was recovered by John Abraham with 1:30 left in the game. Curtis Martin. The offense for the Jets was supposed to go through Chad Pennington, but it's been Martin carrying the load. Sunday he rushed for 110 yards (his third 100-yard game of the season in three games) and one TD.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The unusual -- to say the least -- retirement of RB Ricky Williams was entirely unexpected. The loss of WR David Boston to injury hurt the Dolphins even more because he could've become a huge weapon without Williams there. So in the span of a few weeks the Dolphins lost a potential 1,500-yard rusher and a potential 1,000-yard receiver. How's that the fault of coach Wannstedt?

UP NEXT: Jets (3-0) vs. Bills (0-3) | Dolphins (0-4) at Patriots (3-0)

Broncos 16, Bucs 13

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
The Broncos took the ball with just over seven minutes left in the game and were able to run almost all the time off the clock. Jason Elam. He accounted for most of the Broncos offense, booting three field goals, including a 50-yarder and a 49-yarder.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Over the long haul the Bucs' improvement will rely on the improvement at not just QB, but also WR and RB. Right now they're lacking the playmakers needed to get the job done and it's hurting any QB that's in the game.

UP NEXT: Broncos (3-1) vs. Panthers (1-2) | Bucs (0-4) at Saints (2-2)

Rams 24, 49ers 14

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Steven Jackson scored on a two-yard run with under 30 seconds left to go in the first half to put the Rams up 24-0. Marshall Faulk. He didn't find the end zone, but Faulk carried the ball 23 times for 121 yards.

UP NEXT: Rams (2-2) at Seahawks (3-0) | 49ers (0-4) vs. Cardinals (1-3)
