DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins first-round draft pick Vernon Carey will make his first NFL start Sunday at New England as a replacement for injured tackle John St. Clair.

Carey was inactive the past two games even though the Dolphins' offensive line has been plagued by breakdowns.

"Vernon has got a big opportunity," coach Dave Wannstedt said Wednesday. "This is why we drafted him. He's going to get his shot."

St. Clair is out with knee and ankle injuries. The Dolphins are hoping he'll miss just one game.

Top receiver Chris Chambers is questionable this week after missing Sunday's loss to the New York Jets with knee tendinitis

"I just had to rest it for a week," Chambers said. "I feel a lot better right now. I'm just trying to take care of it and see if I can get back."
