Steelers 34, Patriots 20

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Kevin Faulk fumbled on the Patriots' first drive of the second half. It was recovered by the Steelers on the Patriots' 17 and the Steelers scored four plays later to go up 31-14. Joey Porter. There were stars on offense, but Porter was a monster on defense for the Steelers, sacking Tom Brady three times and forcing a fumble that set up the Steelers' second TD.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The most impressive thing about this victory was the way the Steelers won the game. They are a young team in comparison to the Patriots' veteran-laden squad, but the Steelers went out there and forced mistakes and played power football. They didn't allow the Patriots to dictate the game with schemes and personnel changes and just went out there and smacked 'em in the mouth.

UP NEXT: Patriots (6-1) at Rams (4-3) | Steelers (6-1) vs. Eagles (7-0)

Giants 34, Vikings 13

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Mike Cloud scored on a one-yard run to put the Giants up 27-0 in the third quarter. Tiki Barber. Barber had another big game for the Giants, carrying the ball 24 times for 101 yards and two TDs.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Vikings coaching staff is dealing with an injury that doesn't allow Moss to push it in practice. They are probably hoping the enthusiasm and adrenaline that is caused by a game would enable him to fight through the injury. So far that hasn't happened and it has left the Vikings with an offense that isn't nearly as potent when he isn't on the field.

UP NEXT: Giants (5-2) vs. Bears | Vikings (5-2) at Colts (4-3)

Eagles 15, Ravens 10

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Kyle Boller's pass on fourth-and-10 from the Eagles 48 was incomplete with just over one minute left. The Eagles took over and ran out the clock. Terrell Owens. Caught eight passes for 101 yards and one TD (his ninth on the season). However, the Ray Lewis dance was sort of lame.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: This was a test that the Eagles had to pass against a tough defense. The Ravens have one of the best pass defenses in the league and the Eagles needed to show they could run their offense on anyone. While it wasn't pretty and they weren't nearly as effective as they had been against other teams, the Eagles still walked away with a victory.

UP NEXT: Eagles (7-0) at Steelers (6-1) | Ravens (4-3) vs. Bengals (2-5)

Packers 28, Redskins 14

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Ahman Green scored from 11 yards out to give the Packers a 28-14 lead with just under two minutes to play. Green. He wasn't spectacular, but he did enough, rushing for 70 yards and two TDs on 24 carries and catching four passes for 73 yards.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Yes, it's time for the Redskins to make the switch to Patrick Ramsey. Right now the Redskins' offense doesn't look comfortable. They need a quarterback who can occasionally air it out deep to keep defenses honest and Brunell isn't doing that.

UP NEXT: Packers (4-4) -- bye week | Redskins (2-5) at Lions (4-3)

Texans 20, Jaguars 6

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
DeMarcus Faggins picked off a Byron Leftwich pass and returned it 43 yards for a TD to put the Texans up 20-6 with under one minute left. David Carr. In a matchup of two of the sport's best young QBs, Carr came out on top, completing 26 of 34 passes for 276 yards and one TD.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: I have no doubt that in four or five years the battles between David Carr and Byron Leftwich will be quite exciting. Both young guys show a lot of poise under pressure in the final moments of games when even older guys start to fade.

UP NEXT: Jaguars (5-3) -- bye week | Texans (4-3) at Broncos (5-3)

Bills 38, Cardinals 14

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Drew Bledsoe hit Tim Euhas for a 12-yard TD to put the Bills up 31-7 with just over 12 minutes to play. Willis McGahee. In just his second start, McGahee carried the ball 30 times for 102 yards and two TDs.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Willis McGahee brings all the attributes a team would expect from a young running back trying to take a job from a veteran. He's faster, has quick decision-making skills and makes hard cuts. There's no doubt McGahee wants to be the man and it may be time to make the switch due to Travis Henry's health issues.

UP NEXT: Cardinals (2-5) at Dolphins (1-6) | Bills (2-5) vs. Jets (5-1)

Cowboys 31, Lions 21

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Joey Harrington's pass was picked off by Lance Frazier with just under two minutes left. The Cowboys took over and ran out the clock. Keyshawn Johnson. The only receiver in the Cowboys lineup to have ever caught a pass before Sunday, Johnson had three catches for 80 yards and two TDs.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: Without WR Roy Williams the Lions don't seem to have a consistent way to move the ball. Despite being a rookie, Williams creates mismatches because he's consistently double-teamed. When he's not on the field opposing teams don't have as much to worry about and are able to bottle up the rest of the offense.

UP NEXT: Lions (4-3) vs. Redskins (2-5) | Cowboys (3-4) at Bengals (2-5)

Titans 27, Bengals 20

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Tackle Albert Haynesworth sacked Carson Palmer on first-and-goal, knocking the ball loose, and end Juqua Thomas recovered. Chris Brown. Rushed for 147 yards and one TD on 32 carries. It was Brown's fifth 100-yard game of the season.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: This is still Steve McNair's team. The presence of Chris Brown will definitely help the Titans just like RB Eddie George's presence helped the team last season. The Titans need balance to be successful, but like last season this is still McNair's team.

UP NEXT: Bengals (2-5) vs. Cowboys (3-4) | Titans (3-5) -- bye week

Chiefs 45, Colts 35

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Greg Wesley picked off a Peyton Manning pass with just over 1:30 left in the game and the Chiefs leading by 10 points. Priest Holmes. Carried the ball 32 times for 143 yards and three TDs. Also caught three passes for 82 yards.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: It's not that surprising that the Colts' Cover 2 isn't working because of the poor play of the linebackers. The linebackers have to do a great job reading the run for the Cover 2 defense to work effectively. Right now the Colts' linebackers are either misreading the run or are reacting too late and it's costing the team in points, big yardage and wins.

UP NEXT: Colts (4-3) vs. Vikings (5-2) | Chiefs (3-4) at Bucs (2-5)

Falcons 41, Broncos 28

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Kevin Mathis returned a Jake Plummer INT 66 yards to put the Falcons up 41-21 with just over two minutes left. Michael Vick. Completed 18 of 24 passes for 252 yards and two TDs and also rushed for 115 yards on 12 carries.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Falcons did a great job of playing on the other side of the line of scrimmage. They consistently pushed the Broncos' offensive line backwards and quickly got after Reuben Droughns.

UP NEXT: Falcons (6-2) -- bye week | Broncos (5-3) vs. Texans (4-3)

Seahawks 23, Panthers 17

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
The Panthers' attempted onside kick was recovered by Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant. The Seahawks took over and ran out the clock. Shaun Alexander. Rushed for 195 yards and one TD and also caught three passes for 13 yards and one TD.

ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The most important thing for the Seahawks is to get a win. They did an excellent job maintaining balance against a good defense and came away with a win.

UP NEXT: Seahawks (4-3) at 49ers | Panthers (1-6) vs. Raiders (2-6)

Chargers 42, Raiders 14

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Drew Brees hit Antonio Gates for a five-yard TD to put the Chargers up 35-7 at the beginning of the third quarter. Brees. Completed 22 of 25 passes for 281 yards and five TDs, giving him 14 TD passes and just three INTs on the season.
ERIC ALLEN'S ANALYSIS: The Chargers are definitely serving notice that they are able to compete in a tough AFC and a tight AFC West. They have a balanced offense that has only gotten better with the recent acquisition of WR Keenan McCardell and the strong play of TE Antonio Gates.

UP NEXT: Raiders (2-6) at Panthers (1-6) | Chargers (5-3) vs. Saints (3-4)

Bears 23, 49ers 13

Recap | Boxscore

IT WAS OVER WHEN... GAME BALL GOES TO...
Nathan Vashar returned a Ken Dorsey INT 71 yards for a TD to put the Bears up 23-13 with just under four minutes left. Anthony Thomas. With Thomas Jones out with an injured foot, Thomas rushed for 98 yards on 25 carries and caught four passes for 46 yards.

UP NEXT: Bears (2-5) at Giants (5-2) | 49ers (1-6) vs. Seahawks (4-3)
