Hervey, Neal lead Texas-Arlington over Rice 92-74

HOUSTON -- Kevin Hervey and Erick Neal both recorded career-highs -- with 27 and 24 points respectively -- and Texas-Arlington topped Rice 92-74 on Sunday.

Hervey tied a career high with 15 rebounds while Neal was a perfect 9 of 9 from the floor and had six assists. Drew Charles finished with 17 points with four 3-pointers.

Egor Koulechov scored a career-high 28 points with eight rebounds to pace Rice (2-5). Marcus Evans had 12 points and Max Guercy added 10 points with eight assists.

Texas-Arlington (5-1) got a 3 from Charles early to lead 18-8. Rice got within three on a layup by Koulechov with 7:21 in the first, but the Mavericks scored the next eight points -- including a pair of 3-pointers by Neal -- and led 51-38 at intermission.

An 8-0 spurt midway through the second half, including a 3 by Hervey, pushed the lead to 18 and Texas-Arlington cruised from there.
