Williams scores on 3-yard run in Argonauts' loss
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Dave Dickenson completed 19-of-24 passes for 229 yards and two first-half touchdowns Friday and the B.C. Lions held on for a 26-19 victory over the Toronto Argonauts.
The Lions scored on their first three drives and Dickenson completed 14 of his first 17 pass attempts. Dickenson hit Geroy Simon on a 63-yard pass play and Simon tipped a 15-yard pass to himself in the end zone for the second score.
Rob Pikula added three field goals to put the Lions up 23-0 at halftime. Dickenson left the game with a bruised right knee.
Ricky Williams, serving a one-year NFL suspension for a fourth violation of the league's substance abuse policy, scored the Argos first touchdown, a 3-yard run in the third quarter.
Pikula kicked a 27-yard field goal to put the Lions up 26-7.
Noel Prefontaine added a field goal and Spergon Wynn scored on a 1-yard run to pull the Argos within 26-16 after a two-point convert failed.
Prefontaine's 20-yar field goal with just over eight minutes to play got the Argos within 26-19.
The Lions put Dickenson back in at quarterback.
Still, the Argos' Jeff Kelly recovered an Antonio Warren fumble on the Toronto 15-yard line with 1:57 remaining. Toronto drove to the Lions' 20-yard line before Robert Baker fumbled and Ryan Phillips recovered for B.C.
