NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints signed fullback Mike Karney to a four-year extension, keeping him under contract for the next five seasons.
The extension picks up next year when the final year of his existing deal expires, the team said Thursday in a news release.
Karney was drafted by the Saints in the 5th round (156th overall) of the 2004 draft out of Arizona State. Entering his third season, he has appeared in all 32 games, starting 22.
In addition to his role as a lead blocker, Karney has 16 career receptions for 103 yards and has carried the ball nine times for 19 yards.
