Dallas Cowboys starting left tackle Flozell Adams has been placed on the physically unable to perform list.

He's recovering from ligament surgery on his knee that caused him to miss the final 10 games of the season. The Cowboys expect he will be ready for the start of the regular season.

The 6-foot-7, 335-pound Adams became a Pro Bowler under Bill Parcells, and the coach knows that the offensive line could be a key to the upcoming season. If quarterback Drew Bledsoe doesn't receive protection from the line, new weapons like Terrell Owens won't matter.

"The ability of that group will transcend to the other parts of your team," Parcells told the Dallas Cowboys Web site. "If we're not good there, we probably won't be a very good team."
