NEW YORK -- Ron Hill, a former executive with Atlanta, Jacksonville and Denver, has been appointed the NFL's vice president of football operations.

Hill will work under Ray Anderson, the new senior vice president for football operations. He will be in charge of the NFL's relationships with colleges, medical committees and All-Star games and will work with Anderson on officiating and the league's competition committee.

Hill began his NFL career in 1979 as a scout for the Dallas Cowboys. He later joined the Broncos as a regional scout and assistant director of player personnel, then spent four years with the Jaguars as director of pro personnel.

In 1998, he joined the Falcons as vice president of football operations and vice president of player personnel.
