Panthers S Williams not ready to return from foot injury
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers safety Shaun Williams missed practice and was downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game against Cleveland.
Center Justin Hartwig was back on the field Friday and remained questionable on the injury report.
Williams sat out the past two games with a right foot injury, but had practiced Wednesday and Thursday.
"He's not quite ready yet," coach John Fox said.
Colin Branch is expected to again fill in for Williams at strong safety against the Browns.
Hartwig, who has missed the past three games with a groin injury, returned to practice Wednesday but sat out Thursday's workout. If he can't play, Geoff Hangartner most likely will start at center.
Running backs Nick Goings and Brad Hoover practiced Friday, but were added to the injury report as probable with thigh injuries.
