Redskins LB Washington out with knee injury
ASHBURN, Va. -- Redskins linebacker Marcus Washington will be out for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams because of a sprained knee -- his first missed start since joining Washington as a free agent in 2004.
Washington was hurt in last week's 16-10 win over the New Orleans Saints. The Redskins initially made no mention of the injury, and Washington on Wednesday called it a "little boo-boo." However, he missed all of this week's practices and could be done for the season.
"He won't play Sunday," coach Joe Gibbs said Friday. "We'll let the medical team continue to work on what is best for him. He still has swelling in it."
Nine-year veteran Jeff Posey is expected to start in Washington's spot at strong-side linebacker.
"It's going to be kind of strange to be on the sidelines watching the guys," Washington said. "I haven't missed a game in a while. I'll keep the guys up."
Right tackle Jon Jansen, who missed last week's game with calf and thumb injuries, practiced Friday and is expected to play against the Rams.
