Pro Football Hall of Famer Moon pleads not guilty to DUI
KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon has pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving under the influence after being arrested in late December in the suburbs east of Seattle.
Moon entered the plea Tuesday in Kirkland Municipal Court. He was ordered not to drink alcohol and is not allowed to refuse blood or breath tests. Both are standard release conditions in such cases. His next pretrial hearing is March 31.
Moon, 51, was arrested about 2 a.m. on Dec. 28 after refusing a field sobriety and breath test in Medina. He also was cited for driving with expired license tabs, and his lawyer, John Scott Fox, says Moon has paid the $268 fine for that violation.
Moon played college ball for the Washington Huskies and in the NFL for the then-Houston Oilers, Minnesota, Seattle and Kansas City. He is now part of the Seattle Seahawks' radio broadcast team.
Fox said in a statement Moon "unequivocally states that his ability to drive was in no way impaired by alcohol," according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
