The New Orleans Saints made two bold decisions to maintain continuity on their offensive line Wednesday by reaching agreements with guard Jamar Nesbit and center Jonathan Goodwin.

Terms of Nesbit's deal weren't available. Goodwin signed a three-year, $8.5 million deal with $3 million in guarantees. Nesbit was the team's starting left guard and played every down last season. Goodwin was the backup center, but there is a decent chance he could start this season.

Talks have been stalled with center Jeff Faine, who is trying to be one of the highest paid centers in the league. Like Nesbit and Goodwin, Faine is scheduled to be a free agent Friday and if no deal is reached, Faine could leave. The Saints protected themselves at center with the re-signing of Goodwin and kept the left side of the line intact with the re-signing of Nesbit.

Goodwin and Nesbit become the second and third Saints to re-sign in the past four days. Wide receiver Terrance Copper re-signed over the weekend. Several weeks ago, the Saints re-signed kicker Martin Gramatica.
