Broncos' Boss Bailey (knee) done for year; Champ (groin) out 4-6 weeks
This is not the news the Denver Broncos and their hemorrhaging defense needed.
Both Bailey brothers were injured in Denver's 41-7 loss at New England on Monday night. The Broncos, 4-3, have a bye this week and then return to host Miami on Nov. 2. The story was first reported by Denver television station KCNC.
The Broncos also lost backup quarterback Patrick Ramsey, who injured his throwing elbow on a second-quarter sack against the Patriots, for the season.Champ Bailey is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and he has rarely been challenged in the air. He has made it to the Pro Bowl eight straight seasons. Rookie Jack Williams is expected to join the starting lineup alongside Dre' Bly with Bailey out. Boss Bailey was signed as a free agent in March from Detroit. Jamie Winborn will likely take his place in the lineup.
Bill Williamson covers the NFL for ESPN.com. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
