Having already incurred a $117,000 team fine earlier this month, Burress drew $45,000 in additional fines from the NFL for his actions during and after the Giants' 29-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.
The latest fines included $20,000 for verbally abusing an official during the game, another $20,000 for "inappropriate" comments about officiating after the game and $5,000 for throwing a football into the stands.
Burress criticized officials after they penalized him for offensive pass interference. Officials also penalized the Giants 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct after Burress argued with officials on the field. After the game, Burress called the ruling the worst he had ever seen.
The nine-year veteran returned to practice Friday after missing
two days of work with a sore shoulder and stiff neck. He said he
would be ready to play against the Steelers this weekend in his
return to Pittsburgh.
"I had a full day of practice, no limitations, so I am ready to
go," Burress said. "I have 48 hours to get ready for the game and
I should be back to close to 100 percent."
Burress spoke before the league disclosed his fine.
