Jaguars place Podlesh on IR, activate two players off PUP
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars placed punter Adam Podlesh on injured reserve with a knee injury and signed free agent Steve Weatherford on Tuesday.
The team also activated tight end George Wrighster and defensive end Jeremy Mincey off the physically unable to perform list and waived cornerback Omare Lowe.
In another move, the Jags waived tight end Chris Brown from the practice squad and replaced him with center Tim Mattran.
Podlesh, a fourth-round draft pick in 2007, injured his right knee trying to make a tackle Sunday against Minnesota. He averaged 43.2 yards a punt, which ranked 22nd in the league.
Weatherford played two games with Kansas City this season after being claimed off waivers from New Orleans in October. His career average is 43.4.
With the Jaguars all but eliminated from the playoff hunt, Mincey (wrist) and Wrighster (knee) will have a chance to secure roster spots for next season.
