Titans' Haynesworth to have MRI on injured leg
Not only did the Tennessee Titans lose to the Houston Texans on Sunday, they may have also lost a key component of their defense.
Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was injured near the end of the game when his left leg was caught under the pile. He remained on the turf for several minutes while Titans officials looked at him. He finally got up and hobbled off the field.
The Tennessean reported that he will have an MRI in Nashville on Monday.
"It looked like, seeing him on the field and hearing his moans and groans, it sounds like he is going to be out for [a while]," defensive end Jevon Kearse said, according to the newspaper. "But seeing him walking around the training room just now, it looks very promising. I know when I had my major injury [a torn ACL] a couple of years ago there was no way I was going to be walking any. So I know it is not that bad at least."
The Titans have already clinched the AFC South. A win would have given them home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Haynesworth has been a big part of that success, leading the team with 8½ sacks. He will likely be named to his second straight Pro Bowl this week and is a candidate for defensive player of the year.
"He is a dominant player for us," linebacker David Thornton said, according to the Tennessean. "We definitely need that guy."
