Crowder, Allen miss Wednesday practice in Miami

DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins began preparations for Sunday's showdown against the New York Jets without two defensive starters.

Linebacker Channing Crowder and cornerback Will Allen were held out of practice Wednesday but stretched and jogged on the side.

"It's just day to day," coach Tony Sparano said. "We've got to see how they feel."

Crowder, the Dolphins' second-leading tackler, missed Sunday's game at Kansas City with a stiff knee. In his absence, Miami gave up a season-high 492 yards.

Allen, who pulled up limping at one point during the game, has a groin injury.

"There are not many things that keep me out of any games," Allen said. "That's just the way I like to think. But I'm all right."

The Dolphins would win the AFC East if they beat the Jets.
