Driver to attend rest of workouts
The wide receiver didn't attend the team's workout last Thursday, sparking a report that according to sources, he was unhappy with his current deal and wanted an upgrade.
But on Wednesday, Driver said he missed last week's session because of a death in his wife's family and because of his son's graduation from kindergarten -- and that he's not unhappy with the current deal.
"It's not about negotiating. I have a contract already," Driver said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It's just about reworking that contract. It's not about adding more money onto the situation or anything like that. It's just that me and the organization have a situation that I've talked to them about, and I'm hoping we can work it out."
Driver didn't address what he and agent, Jordan Woy, are discussing with the Packers. "That's between me and the organization," he said, according to the report.
But he did say that it has nothing to do with fellow Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings, who is currently in contract talks with the team. And Driver said he would attend the rest of the team's voluntary workouts.
"Listen, I want them to give Greg $100 million," Driver said, according to the Journal Sentinel. "I can't control what they give him now or what they're going to give him in the future. He'll probably see three or four contracts by the time I get done playing, so I want him to try to get as much money as possible.
"I'm not trying to be the highest-paid receiver in the National Football League," he added, according to the report. "I've never received that, and that's not ever going to happen. So I'm fine with what I have, I make good money, and I'm happy about it."
Driver's current contract is scheduled to pay him $6.1 million this season and $7 million next season in combined salary and bonuses.
