Source: TE Miller gets extension
On Wednesday evening, Miiller agreed to a six-year, $35.3 million deal that includes a $12.5 million signing bonus, according a source. Miller was entering the final year of his contract and was scheduled to make around $1.8 million this season. The extension will keep him with the Steelers through the 2014 season.
The 26-year-old Miller is entering his fifth season. He's considered one of the better, more complete tight ends in the AFC. The Steelers normally don't throw much to their tight ends, but Miller's skills have caused them to change that philosophy. His numbers have gradually grown each season.
Miller caught 48 passes for 514 yards and three touchdowns last season. He had 47 catches in 2007.
The former University of Virginia star was a first-round pick of the Steelers in 2005. He's started 61 games with the Steelers and has 168 career catches for 1,932 yards and 21 touchdowns.Senior writer John Clayton covers the NFL for ESPN.com.
