BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills reserve defensive end Chris Ellis has been ruled out from playing in Buffalo's game at Miami on Sunday due to an undisclosed family emergency.

Without providing details, the Bills made the announcement in a release issued Saturday evening.

Ellis' absence will further deplete an already thin defense, which will be missing four starters, including cornerback Leodis McKelvin, who was placed on injured reserve on Thursday. Reserve defensive tackle John McCargo is also out due to a calf injury.
