Davis ties mark with 13th TD
13's a Lucky Number
With his touchdown Sunday, Vernon Davis tied Antonio Gates for the single-season touchdown record for tight ends.
|2009: Vernon Davis, 49ers||13|
|2004: Antonio Gates, Chargers||13|
|1999: Wesley Walls, Panthers||12|
|1983: Todd Christensen, Raiders||12|
|1967, Jerry Smith, Redskins||12|
|1961 Mike Ditka, Bears||12|
Davis, a Pro Bowler for the first time in his career, tied Antonio Gates' NFL record by a tight end for touchdown catches.
The score gave the 49ers a 14-6 lead over the St. Louis Rams with 7:29 to play.
Davis, a month shy of his 26th birthday, will be a starter for the NFC squad in the Jan. 31 game at Miami.
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Davis was known as much for his volatile nature as his lack of production during his first three NFL seasons. He was San Francisco's top draft pick in 2006, sixth overall out of Maryland.
