Lions re-sign defensive end DeVries

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions have signed defensive end Jared DeVries to a one-year contract.

The team confirmed the deal areement Monday. The deal is worth $1.7 million, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Devries was released in February after missing last season following surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon.

He started 29 games the previous three seasons for the Lions and has played in 120 games for them since they drafted him out of Iowa in 1999.
