Green signs with UFL's Omaha team
OMAHA, Neb. -- Running back Ahman Green has signed to play for the expansion Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.
Green played 12 seasons in the NFL, and is the Green Bay Packers' career rushing leader with 8,322 yards in eight years with the club. He also played for Seattle and Houston.
Green, who went to high school in Omaha and starred in college with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, said he was excited to continue his professional football in the city where he grew up.
"I am very excited about this season with Omaha Nighthawks," Green said in a statement released by the league. "I cannot wait to put on a Nighthawks uniform. Doing what I do best in the town where I grew up in is a dream come true!"
Green starred at Nebraska, rushing for 3,880 yards and 42 touchdowns in three years (1995 to 1997).
The UFL begins its second season in September. The Nighthawks are coached by Jeff Jagodzinski.
