"Our thoughts and prayers are with Albert and his family right now. The team wants him to get through this tragedy," Redskins coach Mike Shanahan told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio.

Police said 23-year-old Lance McCoy was speeding on his motorcycle Thursday night when he collided with a car pulling out of a parking lot. Police said a preliminary investigation found McCoy's excessive speed was the main cause of the crash.

A memorial motorcycle ride will be held in Nashville on Sunday to honor McCoy. A service is scheduled for Tuesday in Hartsville, S.C.

Haynesworth learned his brother had been killed late Thursday night before he called Shanahan at 1 a.m., distraught, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Shanahan then spoke to Redskins owner Dan Snyder, who loaned his private plane to Haynesworth, on which he took his mother and girlfriend to Tennessee.

Haynesworth and his family remained in Tennessee on Sunday along with Snyder's private plane.

Snyder and the Redskins have told Haynesworth to take as long as he needs and to keep the plane until he is ready to return, the league sources told Schefter.
