Percy Harvin explains dispute
Percy Harvin said his heated dispute with Brad Childress last Friday was over an MRI the Minnesota Vikings receiver didn't want to take but that he and the coach are "fine" now.
"We had a little dispute," Harvin said, according to the Star Tribune. "It wasn't what people thought it was about. It was about whether I was going to get an MRI or not. It was a little dispute, but we settled it. Me and Coach are fine."
Mike & Mike in the Morning
ESPN NFL analyst Mike Ditka says the Vikings are starting to realize that in order to be successful they have to work together, regardless of whether they like each other. Plus, Ditka says Michael Vick is one of the great redemption stories.
Team sources told ESPN's Ed Werder that the confrontation between Harvin and Childress grew so heated Friday afternoon that coaches and players were forced to separate them to prevent a physical exchange.
Childress questioned Harvin's effort during the practice, sources told Werder. When Harvin took exception, Childress suggested Harvin submit to further testing on his left ankle. The debate escalated and "was as close to physical as you can get," according to a source.
"I just didn't think nothing was significantly wrong with it," Harvin said, according to the Star Tribune. "I just didn't want to go."
NFC North blog
ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert writes about all things NFC North in his division blog.
After the two were separated, according to sources, a teammate told Harvin: "You just did what a lot of us have been wanting to say for years."
Harvin had further testing on the ankle Saturday morning and was activated for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Harvin had nine catches for a career-high 126 yards Sunday in the Vikings' overtime win.
Information from ESPN NFL reporter Ed Werder was used in this report.
