Source: Jed York, Bill Parcells to talk
San Francisco 49ers president Jed York intends to contact Miami Dolphins consultant Bill Parcells this week for his opinion on San Francisco vice president of player personnel Trent Baalke, according to a league source.
Parcells first hired Baalke when he was with the New York Jets.
York also intends to ask Parcells for his thoughts on the 49ers' future as they seek to hire a general manager and coach, and the direction the team should take, the source said.

York interviewed former NFL executive Michael Lombardi for close to two hours about San Francisco's general manager job late Tuesday night, according to a league source.
Baalke is considered the favorite for the vacant San Francisco job, but one team source said Lombardi had an impressive interview and will warrant strong consideration.
The 49ers first want to hire a general manager, and then have the GM oversee the process to hire a new head coach. Lombardi spent nine seasons working as the Raiders' senior personnel executive to Oakland owner Al Davis. Lombardi also has worked under Bill Belichick and Mike Shanahan, among others, before becoming a football analyst for the NFL Network.
York reportedly interviewed Tony Softli on Tuesday as the first known candidate for the GM job. Softli is a former personnel executive with the Carolina Panthers and St. Louis Rams.
York fired coach Mike Singletary late Sunday after a 25-17 loss at St. Louis eliminated the 49ers (5-10) from playoff contention, their eighth straight year out of the postseason.
San Francisco has been without a general manager since Scot McCloughan's abrupt departure last March that York called a "mutual parting." McCloughan wound up with the division rival Seattle Seahawks, while Baalke took over football operations for the Niners.
The 49ers finish the season at home Sunday against Arizona, but haven't had a winning season since 2002, their previous trip to the playoffs. Promoted defensive line coach Jim Tomsula will coach the season finale for a team picked by many before the season to win the NFC West.
