Former Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels is scheduled to meet Friday with the Minnesota Vikings regarding a potential spot on Leslie Frazier's coaching staff, a source told ESPN's Ed Werder on Thursday.

It seems unlikely that McDaniels would consider anything below the offensive coordinator's position, which in Minnesota is held by Darrell Bevell.

Bevell was a key figure in luring Brett Favre out of retirement to play with the Vikings the past two seasons. The interest in McDaniels indicates Frazier is considering changing schemes from the West Coast system in which Favre played for 16 seasons in Green Bay, which allowed for a smooth transition to the Vikings' scheme. Bevell coached Favre for six years with the Packers.

McDaniels was the New England Patriots offensive coordinator under Bill Belichick before the Broncos hired him as head coach prior to the 2009 season.

The Vikings also plan to interview former San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Singletary to be linebackers coach, a source told ESPN's John Clayton on Thursday. There isn't a plan for Singletary to be defensive coordinator.
