Everyone has an opinion about what will happen during the NFL season. And the predictions will prove to be either true or false.

So we've made four bold statements and asked our ESPN experts -- former NFL players Eric Allen and Mark Schlereth -- whether they believe the statements eventually will become fact or fiction.

On which side of the fence do they sit? Click on the links below for their answers.

Eric Allen
Fact: Right now the Seahawks are avoiding the letdowns that have plagued other teams in the division. This upcoming week is a big game for them as they get ready to face the New York Giants, who are just a game behind them in the standings. This is a great opportunity for the Seahawks to get a little bit of breathing room between them and some of their conference rivals. The key, as always, will be the play of Shaun Alexander. If he can continue his amazing success, then the Hawks will definitely get home-field advantage.
Mark Schlereth
Fact: The Seahawks are currently dominating other teams offensively with one of the best running games around. Shaun Alexander is having a career year and they aren't afraid to use him; in the past, they weren't nearly as reliant on the running game. In addition to the running game, the Seahawks defense is playing fantastic football. This team is finally responding to the past criticisms and displaying a mental toughness and attention to detail that we haven't seen from the Hawks in quite some time. It's a testament to coach Mike Holmgren, who has his team believing in its abilities.
