2009 Season Outlook
Branch missed the first month of 2008 while recovering from ACL surgery, then promptly injured a heel and missed another five games. The Seahawks couldn't keep any receivers healthy last year, which prompted them to sign T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who appears to be locked into Branch's old flanker role. Where that leaves Branch, who had another knee surgery this winter and is set to make $5 million this year, is anyone's guess. He could start in a lesser role since Nate Burleson is coming off an ACL tear and Seattle couldn't translate any of their fine-looking receiving prospects into actual on-field production last year. Or, if he can't prove he's healthy, Branch could find himself cut. |
