Ravens: Ed Reed's return up to him
Reed was awarded the game ball by his Ravens teammates after their playoff win Sunday at Kansas City. He made four tackles in the Ravens' 30-7 win, then left the team for Louisiana following the game.
The Ravens play at Pittsburgh on Saturday, and Ravens coach John Harbaugh said there's no timetable for Reed's return to the team.
"We've left that up to Ed," Harbaugh told reporters. "I know that Ed knows this team inside and out. ... So I think it's going to kind of depend on the circumstances down there, what he feels he needs to do with his family. But we'll give him a lot of leeway."
Brian Reed, 29, has been missing since Friday, when he apparently jumped into the Mississippi River after being confronted by a deputy sheriff in Louisiana in response to a report of a stolen car. Authorities have since called off the search.
Reed said family members and teammates helped him keep his mind on his job on Sunday.
"My older brother called me and told me, 'Do what you do. You handle your business; we'll take care of everything over here,' " Reed said.
Reed's 54 interceptions lead the NFL since he entered the league in 2002. Despite missing the first six games this season following offseason hip surgery, he had an NFL-best eight interceptions in just 10 games.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
