Source: Coaches have XLV bonuses
McCarthy has a clause in his contract that calls for him to collect a $500,000 bonus if the Packers win the Super Bowl, according to a league source.
Tomlin also has a bonus in his contract for a Steelers Super Bowl victory thought to be similar in amount to McCarthy's, though the exact figure could not be verified.
Tomlin would become only the 13th coach in league history to win multiple rings if the Steelers beat the Packers.
"It's awesome, it really is," Tomlin said Friday of the opportunity. "It's humbling, it's inspiring, it motivates you. It's all those things. I think fortunately for us, we have what you can't buy, which is legacy -- which is unbelievable standard and expectation and all those great things."
McCarthy is making his Super Bowl debut as a head coach, but said Friday that he expects to come out victorious.
"We've had an opportunity to go over every situation twice for our game plan, so we're ready to go. The one thing you want to see in your football team is that the players have maintained confidence throughout the process. Our guys have done that. They totally believe what's in front of them. They believe in what they've seen on film. We respect Pittsburgh, but we feel that this is our time and Sunday will be our night," he said.
