Niners Stun Giants
What was once a one-sided affair for the Giants became a historical meltdown. The 49ers scored the game's final 25 points, capped by Tai Streets' 13-yard scoring reception with a minute remaining to stun New York 39-38 in a game that will be regarded as one of the franchises most memorable playoff moments, writes John Clayton. The comeback was the second biggest (24 points) in playoff history.

Eric AllenI was surprised not just by the 49ers' comeback and the Giants' botched field goal at the end ... I was surprised because I expected the Giants to win this game on the road. They came in having won four straight, while the 49ers had lost two of three. I didn't think the 49ers had anyone who could stop TE Jeremy Shockey or WR Amani Toomer. But it came down to San Francisco's offense. Behind by 24 in the third quarter, they just sucked it up and made plays, led by QB Jeff Garcia and WR Terrell Owens. A big factor was that the Giants put virtually no pressure on Garcia. Giants coach Jim Fassell did a tremendous job this season, but the Giants let an awesome opportunity slip right through their collective fingers. Regarding that field goal try (or non-try) at the end of the game, the Giants' special-teams guys need to know the situation and realize they have another down if the snap is botched (as it was). It has to be tough for New York to swallow this loss.
