Playing BelichickBradyball
The Chargers got schooled by the best -- New England's Bill Belichick and Tom Brady -- in the art of doing whatever it takes to win in the playoffs. John Clayton

SCOUTS' TAKE
San Diego LT Marcus McNeil was dominant and they ran the ball efficiently on the edges --where LaDainian Tomlinson really shines. The Chargers effectively used multiple personnel groupings to gain advantages in the run game. New England's defense looked slow compared to Tomlinson, who was spectacular once again. Not only were the Chargers faster, but they were stronger and more physical at the point of attack. Jamal Williams dominated the middle of the field in the run game. The Patriots used multiple receiver sets for a large portion of the snaps to spread the Chargers' 3-4 horizontally, but the Patriots struggled to protect Tom Brady. Brady had a hard time setting his feet to throw, which resulted in turnovers. The Chargers dominated the field position battle and P Mike Scifres deserves a great deal of the credit -- he was an unsung difference maker. Despite all this, New England never gave up, showed their playoff experience and capitalized better on San Diego's mistakes than the Chargers did on theirs. Brady is just amazing in the clutch. -- Matt Williamson
