TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Mike Holmgren caught himself before he got too critical of his Seattle Seahawks.Mistakes or not, they are unbeaten after starting a season with consecutive wins on the road for the first time in 10 years, including Sunday's 10-6 victory over the punchless Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
|Seahawks-Buccaneers: Is Chris Simms the answer at quarterback, or are the Bucs' problems much bigger? Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden is looking for a quarterback who fits his personality on and off the field. He's looking for a guy who he can mold and turn into an extension of himself on the field so he doesn't have to worry about bad decisions, poorly thrown balls, etc. While Brad Johnson is a capable quarterback he's not Gruden's first choice. Coach Gruden is going to try and get the future started as quickly as possible, and I wouldn't be surprised if Simms did end up starting the rest of the season for that very reason.Eric Allen played cornerback for 14 NFL seasons with the Eagles, Saints and Raiders. Johnson was 4-of-7 for 34 with one interception and one sack. Gruden would not speculate on whether he will start next Sunday at Oakland. ... Darrell Jackson led Seattle with five receptions for 50 yards. ... Bucs linebacker Derrick Brooks pledged $1,000 for every tackle he made to hurricane relief for his hometown of Pensacola, Fla. He finished with seven tackles and an interception.
